Farmington – Arthur L. Brackett, 61, a resident of Starling Street in Farmington, died Thursday, Jan. 26, at his home surrounded by his family after a lingering illness.

He was born in Jay on June 22, 1944, the son of Robert N. and Agnes N. Masterman Brackett and attended Jay High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

In July of 1984, he married the former Penny Deon. He worked as a farmer before being employed by International Paper Co. in Jay.

He was also a trucker for CR England Co. out of Salt Lake City, Utah and T.T. Dunphey Co. of North Anson.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially Lawrence Yeaton and family, the Hinkley family and the Corson family. His hobbies included trains, planes and seeing the world. He also loved to garden and be with his animals.

He is survived by his wife, Penny, of Farmington; a daughter, Agnes G. Brackett, of Farmington; a son, James Robert Brackett, of Farmington; four brothers, Robert Brackett and his companion, Lydia Hoffman, of Monmouth, Richard Brackett and his wife, Connie, of Auburn, Clifford Brackett and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Florida and Malcolm Brackett and his companion, Jane Bradbury, of East Winthrop; a sister, Harriet Mayo, of Farmington; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Russell Brackett in 2003.
