LEWISTON – Georgette Bazinet Fournier, 86, a lifelong resident of Lewiston, died on Jan. 26, at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Lewiston, Oct. 21, 1919, the daughter of Arthur and Angelina Bazinet. She was an office manager and bookkeeper for Samson Novelties (Mainely Bingo) and Lewiston Lumber Co. in an administrative career that spanned nearly 40 years.

She married Sylvio Louis Fournier in 1944, with whom she celebrated life until his death in 1978. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and godmother, and blessed with many cherished friends.

She will always be remembered for her selfless generosity and genuine kindness to others.

Her artistic penmanship and gift for calligraphy have been admired and appreciated by all who touched her life.

She was a spirited and spiritual woman. Her family and friends were her prime focus but she always found time to be involved in her church and community.

Many will remember her involvement teaching CCD at Holy Cross School, working at election polls, baking and decorating cakes for special occasions, serving as a Girl Scout volunteer/assistant leader, participating in ALTRUSA, and most especially garnering support for the Abused Women Advocacy Program (AWAP).

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Barnes and her husband, Sherman, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Mrs. Sylvia Turgeon and her husband, Charlie, of Lewiston; one sister, Mrs. Florence Sutton, of Brunswick; one brother, Bertrand Bazinet and his wife, Muriel, of Augusta; one grandson, John Barnes and his companion, Shani Bryer, of Tucson, Ariz., and Boothbay Harbor; and cherished nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Roland and Paul Bazinet.
