LEWISTON – Doris Rose Gagnon, 77, a lifelong resident of Jay, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 26, at St. Mary’s Retgional Medical Center with her family by her side after a long battle with emphysema.

She was born, Feb. 1, 1928, in Chisholm, a daughter of Alphonse and Alma (Ouellette) Lauzier. She attended Jay schools and as a young woman worked at the glove shop in Livermore Falls.

On Sept. 5, 1948, she married Lawrence Gagnon at St. Rose of Lima in Jay where they made their home, and she worked as a homemaker.

Mrs. Gagnon was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed photography and had an appreciation for art. Her greatest pleasure came from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lawrence, of Jay; a son, James Gagnon, of Clinton, Mass.; four daughters, Susan Gagnon, of Farmington, Kathleen Jolicoeur and her husband, Gerard, of Jay, Jane Gagnon, of Auburn, Laurie Anderson, of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Jacqueline Beaudette, of Westbrook; six grandchildren, Amie Hewett and her husband, Bryon, of Farmington, Carrie Hathaway and her husband, Troy, of Sanford, Nathan James and his companion, Laurie Danforth, of New Sharon, Hannah James and her companion, Sean Kelley, of Vienna, Kelly Ryder and her husband, Ralph, of Livermore Falls and Sara Presby, of Charlotte, N.C.; six great-grandchildren, Adeline Schanz, of Vienna, Cole and Juliette Hathaway, of Sanford, Jazmin Ryder, of Livermore Falls, and Trinity and Destiny Gordon, of Charlotte, N.C.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Norman Gagnon; a sister, Lorraine Doiron.
