Gov. John Baldacci gets it. He knows that people are the most important resource in Maine’s economic plan. In the new global economy, it is imperative that we invest in our people to create sustainable economic development in our state. Rephrasing Bill Clinton’s campaign slogan, “It’s education – stupid.”

In this endeavor, our community colleges are critical to our future, and it was Baldacci who created the community college system. The community colleges not only train young people, but they also give adult workers new skills and creativity.

It’s all about education, and Baldacci gets it.
