BOOTHBAY – Brittany York poured in a game-high 18 points to lead Mt. Abram to a 54-49 victory over Boothbay in a varsity girls’ basketball contest on Saturday. Mt. Abram (7-8) had a commanding 29-14 lead at halftime.
Joyce Chagan scored a team-high 13 points, while Brittany Markowski chipped in with 11 for Boothbay (4-9) in the loss.
Mountain Valley 50, Wiscasset 34
WISCASSET – Kristen Arsenault drained a game-high 19 points to carry Mountain Valley to a 50-34 win over Wiscasset in an MVC girls’ basketball matchup.
Devon Allen added 10 points for the Falcons (7-7). Mountain Valley was up 11 at the half.
Sarah Pierce led all Wiscasset (1-12) scorers with 15 and Klarissa Cruz scored 12.
Carrabec 39, Lisbon 38
LISBON – Carrabec withstood a furious fourth-quarter rally to escape with a 39-38 victory over winless Lisbon in girls’ basketball.
The Cobras (4-10) built a 28-21 lead through three quarters, but Lisbon roared back with a 17-point outburst in the final eight minutes. The Greyhounds hurt themselves by shooting 1-for-12 from the foul line in the final quarter.
Amy Campbell scored 10 points to lead Carrabec. Lisbon (0-14) was led by Heather Parry and Christy McAuliffe with 12 and 10 points.
Kents Hill 45, GPC 30
KENTS HILL – Kents Hill broke open a tight game in the final quarter to pull away for a 45-30 victory over Greater Portland Christian.
GPC (9-2) jumped out to a 12-4 lead after one quarter, but the Huskies fought back to take a 19-18 lead by halftime and 30-28 lead after three quarters.
Jackie Gershman-Manocchi led Kents Hill with 18 points. Aleigh Mills scored 10 points and 10 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season. Emily Johnson scored 18 points for GPC.
Gould 49, Islesboro 18
BETHEL – Senior forward Heather Kelleher scored a game-high 14 points as Gould cruised to a 49-18 win over Islesboro in girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Huskies (7-5) turned up the tempo in the second quarter, outscoring Isleboro 18-3 for a 24-7 halftime lead. Freshman guard Michaela Cummings pitched in with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Krysti Hall collected 12 of Islesboro’s 18 points.
MCI 51, Maranacook 47
READFIELD – In a battle of the boards and a bit more depth, Maine Central Institute pulled ahead in the final minutes to take a 51-47 win from Maranacook in KVAC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The score was even at 45-45 with just under two minutes remaining, when the Huskies (8-6) tightened up the offense and drained six points.
Sophomore center Ruth Oviatt led the Huskies with 12 points, while sophomore guard Jenna Lorensten contributed 10.
The Black Bears (6-9) were paced by senior guard Shannon Bean, who scored a game-high 17 points, while sophomore guard Alyssa Neptune recorded eight field goals for 16 points.
Madison 66, Telstar 56
MADISON – Sophomore center Margo Russell had a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Madison to a 66-56 win over Telstar in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
Lacey Ashbrook hit a 3-pointer with just under four minutes to go in regulation to break a 51-51 tie and put the Bulldogs (9-6) up for good. Sophomore forward Briann Emery collected 12 points on 10 free throws and a field goal. Madison sank 11-of-16 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
Sophomore guard Bailey Davis scored 21 points, while senior forward Chea Davis tallied 19 points for the Rebels.
St. Dom’s 45, Poland 36
AUBURN – Abby Gilbert poured in a game-high 15 points to lead St. Dom’s to a 45-36 victory over Poland.
Laura Anderson chipped in with eight for the Saints (11-3). The Saints had a 10-point halftime lead.
Paige Piper led all Poland (3-11) scorers with 13 points on three 3-pointers.
Camden Hills 76, Oak Hill 44
WALES – Kayla Gushee scored 14 points in a balanced attack as Camden Hills sailed to a 76-44 win over Oak Hill in KVAC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Windjammers (14-0) received offensive support from Erika Johnson with 11 points and Allie Parent with 10.
Senior forward Kristen Eaton recorded a double-double with a game-high 16 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman center Carrie Hayden added 10 points for the Raiders (1-13). Sophomore forward Emily Sabine collected six steals.
Morse 63, Lewiston 44
BATH – Jill Henrikson drained 32 points to power Morse to a 63-44 triumph over Lewiston in a girls’ basketball matchup Saturday.
Mallory Long led Lewiston (4-10) with 14 points, while Danielle Willey added nine.
Brunswick 65, Leavitt 52
TURNER CENTER – Claire Baecher scored 10 of her 21 points in a decisive fourth quarter as Brunswick came from behind to beat Leavitt 65-52.
Leavitt (0-12) held a 41-40 lead after three quarters and led by two midway through the fourth. Baechar hit four key free throws, and Lindsay Hammond added three more for Brunswick (7-5). Danyell Cousins led the Dragons with 22 points.
Hammond added 11 points and Emily Pollock tossed in 10.
Stephanie Healy led the Hornets with 21 points and five assists.
Ashley Naylor added 10 points and nine rebounds.
Jay 81, Georges Valley 40
THOMASTON – Freshman guard Liz LeBlanc netted 20 points in a shooting frenzy as Jay doubled over Georges Valley 81-40 in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
Junior guard Kaylie DeMillo scored 17 points with seven assists and four steals for the Tigers (10-4), while teammate senior guard Katie Mastine mirrored DeMillo with six field goals and a free throw for 17 points.
Sophomore center Sam Buchanan led the Buccaneers (3-11) with six field goals for 12 points.
