LEWISTON – Sophomore guard Bryan Wholey drained 17 points to lead Bates College to an 83-43 rout over the University of Maine at Presque Isle in men’s basketball action Monday evening.

First-year guard Brett Miles led the Owls (1-16) with 14 points, and sophomore Jonathan Cooley added 11 points.

The Bobcats (18-2) forced 25 turnovers and out rebounded the Owls, 48-28, led by junior forward Rob Stockwell, who had 11 rebounds to go with nine points, four assists and four steals. Junior guard Zak Ray added 12 points and four assists for Bates.

Women’s basketball

Central Maine 81, UMaine-Augusta 41

AUBURN – Michelle Parent dropped in 17 points to pace Central Maine Community College to an 81-41 victory over the University of Maine at Augusta.

Ashley Sweat scored 12 points and pulled down 22 rebounds, and Nicole Hutchinson chipped in with eight points and 15 boards. Justine Frostcolva had 16 points and Amanda Webb added 13 points for the Mustangs (14-4).

Amanda Pepin had 17 points to lead UMaine-Augusta (3-12).
