Livermore Elementary School students enjoyed their second annual literary book fair Saturday, which drew more than 1,000 children, parents and town residents to the school, organizers said. School librarian Cheryl Nurse and literary specialist Pam Hamilton coordinated the event, which included face painting, book and craft sales and a cookie walk. One of the features was Margie Knight, a Winthrop woman who writes nonfiction books based mostly on geography. She showed slides, which took the children on a trip around the world by way of the alphabet. “We don’t want to charge people, it’s our way of giving to the community,” Hamilton said as scores of children milled around the indoor fair. “We just want to share our love for reading and interest in literacy,” she said. Money raised Saturday will help pay for next year’s entertainment. This year, Rick Charette ended the fair with some of his popular songs, which the children sang along to in the school gym (above). Earlier in the day, Hayley Doyen of Dixfield, 10, had her face painted by Livermore Falls High School volunteer Elise Plourde.
