FARMINGTON – Steven Pane will perform three piano sonatas, each written 100 years ago, Friday, Feb. 10, in Nordica Auditorium, as part of the Connections and Contrasts Concert Series. The works include Charles Ives’ “Three Page Sonata” (1905), Leos Janacek’s “Sonata From the Streets: January 10, 1905,” and Alexander Scriabin’s “Sonata No. 5” (1906).
Interspersed between each work will be a multimedia presentation about the music given by Meghan Dzyak, a music and writing major at the University of Maine at Farmington. Dzyak prepared this presentation as part of the student initiative program. After graduation, she plans to study musicology.
The program will last about one hour and will conclude with an open discussion. It will begin at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds will be donated to the Mantor Library to purchase materials for the music collection.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, and free for UMF students with an ID. They will be available at the door. This program is not recommended for young children.
