GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (AP) – A group of Long Island Girl Scouts will pay more attention to the commercials than the football during the second quarter of today’s Super Bowl.

The members of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Chorus will be heard – though not seen – performing Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” in a commercial for Dove Soap that promotes self-esteem among young women.

The girls will perform Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” as part of the soap company’s campaign promoting self-esteem among young women, said Donna Rivera-Downey, a spokeswoman for the Girls Scouts of Nassau County.

The chorus, which has performed the national anthem at Mets and Islanders games, taped the commercial in a Manhattan recording studio in December. Rivera-Downey declined to say what the girls were paid.
