FARMINGTON – Claris Plaisted, 76, of East Jay, quietly passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 5, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 17, 1929, in Jay, a son of Ralph and Florida (Belanger) Plaisted. He attended Jay schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a machine repairman for Norwalk Shoe and for 38 years at G.H. Bass Shoe, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed auto racing and spent many a Saturday night at Oxford Plains. He also enjoyed listening to his scanner and keeping abreast of local happenings.

He is survived by his mother, Florida, of Orchard Park, Farmington; one sister, Harriet Stansfield and her husband, Jack, of Wilton; two brothers, Frank Plaisted of Jay and George Plaisted and his wife, Betty, of Jay and St. Cloud, Fla.; and very special cousins, Terry and Julia Belanger of Chesterville.
