LEWISTON – Common Ties Mental Health recently honored Patrick O’Brien and Rick Porter at its annual meeting. Celebrating “Extraordinary Lives,” the Common Ties meeting premiered a video of the agency and acknowledged the volunteer work of its retiring directors.

“Common Ties Extraordinary Lives” portrays personal stories as well as explains the services offered by the agency. The video is available for presentation to community groups and agencies and can be scheduled by calling Craig Phillips at 795-6044 ext. 2.

Patrick O’Brien of New Gloucester was awarded the Quality of Life plaque from two officers of the agency, Ann Marie Mullins, secretary, and Diane Whiting, vice president.

O’Brien has been a consultant in the healthcare field for more than 25 years. He is well known to Common Ties, as he previously provided consulting services to the agency in the area of continuous quality improvement, strategic planning and organizational development.

O’Brien also serves on the planning and zoning board of appeals in New Gloucester. He served on the Community Resource and Development Committee for Common Ties, overseeing strategic planning, public policy and resource development.

Rick Porter of Auburn was presented the Common Ties Commemorative Chair. awarded to directors of the agency who have served two three-year terms and who served in leadership positions on the board or a board committee. Making the award were Ann Marie Mullins and Diane Whiting.

Porter is the programs manager with the Lewiston Housing Authority. Porter served on the Community Resource and Development Committee.

Common Ties Mental Health provides community support services to people who have a serious behavioral health illness. It works with families, hospitals, consumers and service providers to create and support an individual throughout the recovery process.
