GREENWOOD – David “Tripp” Tripp, 65, of Greenwood, died unexpectedly on Feb. 5.

He was born in Fryeburg on Nov. 13, 1940, the son of Milton and Madeline (Hill) Tripp. He was educated in Fryeburg schools and graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1959, and was very active in the academy alumni association.

He later graduated from Gorham State Teachers College in 1963, where he was a member of the Kappa-Delta-Phi fraternity. “Tripp” began his teaching career in Lancaster, N.H., then to Natick, Mass. and then was an industrial arts teacher at Telstar High School in Bethel for 30 years retiring in 1998. He was one of the original teachers at Telstar High School when it opened in 1968.

He married Martha LaChance in July 1965 and they had two children, Darren Tripp and Amanda Tripp. He later married Peggy Wing in August 1972 and they had one son Mark.

He was an avid golfer, a skilled screen printer and very much enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Greenwood; two sons, Darren Tripp and his wife, Haley, of Bethel and Mark Tripp and his fiance, Jennifer Walker, of Augusta; one daughter, Amanda Woodford and her husband, Bradley, of Gray; one brother, Ronald “Butch” Sanborn of Lovell; and four grandchildren, Erin Tripp of Orono, Stephanie Tripp of Bethel and David Woodford and Hannah Woodford, both of Gray.
