LEWISTON – Marie H. Sturtevant, 65, of 10 Simard St., Lewiston, died at her home on Feb. 7.

She was born in Lewiston on Sept. 10, 1940, the daughter of Bernard and Annette Plourde Sturtevant Sr. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of St. Dominic’s, Class of ’59, St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Class of ’61, received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston College, and a Masters Degree in Nursing from Catholic University in Washington D.C.

She served in the United States Army for four years, including time as a nurse in Okinawa during the Vietnam War, finishing her service at the rank of Captain. After leaving the military, she was employed as a nursing instructor at St. Joseph’s College in Standish for many years.

A member of D.A.V. Commanders Club, she was a devoted Catholic, and was a member of Holy Cross Parish and a frequent communicant at Holy Family Church.

Survivors include a brother, Bernard N. Sturtevant Jr. and wife, Pearl, of Rochester, N.Y.; two sisters, Betty and husband, Eddie Dissessa, of Rochester, N.Y. and Irene Dagneau of Lisbon; an aunt, Gisele Vinet of Koneohe, Hawaii; an uncle, Dominique Plourde of Lewiston; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, John “Jack” Sturtevant.
