NORWAY – Iva Rose Edwards Lovejoy, 87, of South Paris died Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Stephens Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family, who will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Lovejoy was born Oct. 18, 1918, at Otisfield, the first of four children to Albert and Beatrice (Wiley) Edwards. She graduated from Norway High School with the Class of 1936. When the new Norway National Bank was completed in 1936, she went to work for New England Telegraph and Telephone Co. at the new upstairs office.

She married L. Neil Lovejoy Jr. on Oct. 18, 1941, and they lived in Portland during the war years. She worked for the civil service at Fort Preble in Portland, and he was a pipefitter at the South Portland Shipyard.

After the war they moved to “Horse-Hill-Farm” on Pikes Hill in Norway. Later they owned and operated Lovejoy’s Flower Shop in South Paris and after a decade in business they moved to “Height-O-Land” Farm in South Paris. She worked at Cornwall’s Wood Products, retiring in 1983.

She loved flowers, cooking and visiting with family and friends. She will always be remembered for her “famous blueberry muffins.” She was a member of Elizabeth Crockett Blake 8 Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, and lifetime member of Paris Cape Historical Society.

Mrs. Lovejoy is survived by a daughter, Brenda and husband, Don Reins, of West Jefferson, N.C.; a son, Michael and his wife, Patricia Lovejoy, of South Paris; a stepdaughter, Louise Whittemore of South Paris; and the love of her life, grandson, William T. Lovejoy of South Paris.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years on Oct. 23, 2001; a brother, Herbert A. Edwards in 1944 during World War II; and two infant sisters.
