LEWISTON – Louis P. Nolin, 82, of Lewiston, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, at d’Youville Pavilion, with family by his side.
He was born in Lewiston on April 13, 1923, the son of Henry Sr. and Delvina Ouellette Nolin. He served in the Air Force during World War II, flying more than 60 missions in the B-17’s, “Flying Fortress.” He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Presidential Unit Citation, Air Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.
He married Laurette Fortin in 1945, at Holy Family Church. He was the owner of Louis P. Nolin Jewelers. He was one of the first registered gemologist in Lewiston, and was a jeweler for 44 years.
He was president of the Lewiston Exchange Club in 1965. He was an avid golfer, as well as a member of the Martindale Country Golf Club. In retirement, he spent winters with his beloved wife in Pompano Beach, Fla.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years; two sons, William and wife, Bonny Nolin, of Auburn, Paul and wife, Barbara Nolin, of Colorado; two daughters, Anne and husband, Gil Blais, of Ohio, Mariette Bennett of Florida; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jody Blais, Billy, Nick, Sophia and Jordon Nolin, Christopher, Jimmy and Timmy Bennett, Samantha and Jordon Nolin; six great-grandchildren, Cory, Cassidy, Gage, Destiny, Britney and Colin.
He was predeceased by a brother, Henry Nolin Jr.; a sister, Martha Vincent; a granddaughter, Andrea “Chelsea” Nolin; and a great-granddaughter, Brooke Blais.
