BURLINGTON, Vt. – Twelfth-ranked Maine scored three rapid goals in the third period to defeat No. 10 Vermont 3-1 on Friday.

Jeff Corey scored Vermont’s only goal of the game at 3:38 of the second period.

Maine was scoreless until 6:47 of the third period when Greg Moore netted a goal. He was followed in quick succession by teammates Rob Bellamy at 7:17 and Bret Tyler at 8:01.

Maine’s Ben Bishop made 18 saves. Vermont’s Joe Fallon had 20 saves.
