LEWISTON – Firefighters were called to Central Maine Medical Center at 5:45 p.m. Saturday for reports of smoke, but no fire was found, according to police.
Lt. Thomas Avery of the Lewiston Police Department said the smoke reported coming from a laundry chute at the hospital turned out to be nothing.
Fire trucks and other emergency vehicles were briefly staked out on Sabattus Street after the smoke was reported.
