LEWISTON – Clifford L. Swartz, 90, of College Street, formerly of Texas and California, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, at Montello Manor.

He was born in Alberta, Canada, on April 17, 1915, the son of the late Lester and Bessie (Williams) Swartz.

His career was in accounting, and he loved his work. Other than spending time with his family, senior groups, close friends and church, his time was spent at his desk. He worked at the Open Door Bible Church every day, until his illness at the age of 89.

He is survived by his brother, Robert and sister, Lila Schepler of California; son, Rayland Swartz and his wife, Jacqueline and daughter, Mary Swartz of Texas; stepchildren, Howard Margerison and his wife, Eleanor, of Durham, Roger Margerison and his wife, Susan and Arleen Oliver and her husband, Burt, of California; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Thelma Swartz, marriage of 14 years and his first wife, Florence Swartz, marriage of 49 years; his brothers, Richard and Lester Swartz; and his sister, Claire Swartz.
