FARMINGTON – Erma Lillian Bachelder Nile, 86, of Farmington, died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 15, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 31, 1919, in Coplin Plantation, a daughter of James and Ethel (Wyman) Bachelder. She received her education in local schools, and on Sept. 23, 1933, married Lloyd Edgar Nile. He died on Sept. 21, 1993.
She was a devoted homemaker. For more than 50 years, she and her husband lived in Langtown Plantation, where she enjoyed caring for her family. She was hardworking, always busy gardening, canning, quilting, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by six daughters, Margarite Grant and her husband, George, of Huntsville, Ala., Merlin Menard of Farmington, Barbara White and her husband, Thomas, of Springvale, Florence Bourgon and her husband, Ernest, of Damariscotta, Iola Ellquist and her husband, Kenneth, of North New Portland, and Hildred Lecours and her husband, Rene, of Tim Pond Township, Eustis; four sisters, Phyllis Flagg of Farmington, Celia Pease of North New Portland, Harriet Powers and her husband, Basil, of Coplin Plantation, and Roberta Kittredge of Farmington; 32 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three children, Charles and Carolyn Nile and Patricia Pettingill; one brother; and three sisters.
