RUMFORD – French III students at Mountain Valley High School have been working on a unit to help connect them to French-speaking people in the River Valley.

As part of the project, they conducted interviews with community members who speak French, native and non-native. The project is designed to begin a long-term connection, giving all an opportunity to use their spoken French and learn from each other.

Speaking a second language is often intimidating and, by practicing what they have learned in class, students hope to gain confidence in their ability.

As part of the project they conducted an interview with a community member, prepared a written biography of same and will share the results of the interview with the class using a PowerPoint demonstration.

The culminating activity will be a get-together at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, in Room 114. All French-speaking members of the community are invited for refreshments and conversation.

If interested, RSVP at 364-4647, ext. 114; by e-mail at ccharles@msad43.org or just drop by.
