TURNER – A Paris man injured in a car crash on Route 4 Wednesday morning remained in fair condition Friday at Central Maine Medical Center.

Kevin Sturtevant, 25, in a 1988 blue Chevrolet truck, had stopped to turn left into Androscoggin Savings Bank when he collided with a maroon 1993 Chevrolet van driven by Brandon Campbell, 25, also of Paris.

Both men were taken to the Lewiston hospital and Campbell was later released.

Maine State Police Trooper Michael Chavez said both cars were southbound on Route 4 just south of Upper Street in Turner at 5:39 a.m.Wednesday.

Both vehicles were demolished. Rescue crews had to cut the top off Sturtevant’s truck to remove him from the vehicle, Chavez said.

State police were still investigating the accident Friday. Chavez said no charges had been filed, but an accident reconstruction would determine if speed was a factor.

“Speed probably was involved, to some extent,” Chavez said, based on the amount of damage to the vehicles.

“But we really can’t say one way or the other until we get the results back from the reconstruction,” he said.
