MECHANIC FALLS – Announcement is made of the engagement of Laura E. Morrison and Nicklas S. Sandberg, both of Portland.

Miss Morrison is the daughter of Gail Morrison and Danny Blanchard of Mechanic Falls and the late David Morrison. She is a 1992 graduate of Edward Little High School and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Southern Maine. She also received a master’s degree in social work from Boston College and taught swimming at the Portland YMCA and YWCA during college. She is currently a licensed clinical social worker at Youth Alternatives – Heritage House in South Portland.

Mr. Sandberg is the son of Gunilla and Rickard Karczewski and Hakan Lindgren of Sundsvall, Sweden. He attended Vastermalms Technical Gymnasium in Sundsvall, Sweden, and is a 1993 graduate of Salem Community High School in Salem, Ill. He is a 1996 graduate of Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Ill., with an associate degree in business administration and a 1998 graduate of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Ill., with a bachelor’s degree in international business. He was vice president of International Business Association, 1997-98, a student association for international business students at Southern Illinois University. He is currently working at Corning Inc. in Kennebunk in informational technology.

The wedding will be held at 3 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland.
