NORWAY – Residents in the Norway area can be screened to reduce the risk of having a stroke. Life Line Screening will be at the Town Hall, 19 Danforth St., on Thursday, March 23. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m.

A stroke, also known as a “brain attack,” is ranked as the third leading killer in the world, and the second among women.

Screenings are painless and low cost. They involved the use of ultra-sound technology and scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries, which can lead to a stroke; aortic aneurysms, which can lead to a ruptured aorta; and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which are a predictor of heart disease. Also offered is a bone density screening to assess risk for osteoporosis.

Each screening requires 10 minutes or less to complete. A vascular screening package is $109.

The screening and an osteoporosis screening is $129.
