GREENE – A Lewiston man was in critical condition Wednesday night after the car he was driving crashed into a tree on College Road.
Police said 76-year-old Martin Morgan of 24 Ventura St. suffered a chest injury as well as possible broken ribs in the 3:30 p.m. crash.
It was unclear what caused Morgan to lose control and crash his 1994 Ford Taurus head-on into the tree, police said.
Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Lovering, who is investigating the wreck, was able to speak with Morgan at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
“He was alert and able to talk to me,” Lovering said. “Hopefully, he’ll be fine.”
