AUBURN – SOCHS has taken over the sunberth in the Auburn Rec Women’s Slowdown Basketball League. SOCHS defeated Young Ones 34-20 Sunday to increase its record to 5-1. Dawn Gilbert led the winners with 10 points, Sandy Bowden added 9. Merissa Bilodeau and Pauline Veinott both scored 8 for Young Ones.

Hoop Camp suffered its first loss, 43-39 to Rec-Ing Crew, and fell into a tie for second. Jessica Veilleux sparked the Crew with 13 points. Joleen Blue was next with 8. Katie Morin (15) and Tracy Scott (13) led the Campers.

Old School knocked off Independent Women 47-35 as Lindsay Marston netted 13 and Liz Hartford 8. Stacey Croft paced the losers with 8. Dawn Beaule added 6.

League action resumes tonight at Hasty Community Center with Rec-Ing Crew meeting Lady Ballers at 7:30. Young Ones will take on Hoop Camp at 8:45. Sunday at 4:00, SOCHS takes on Independent Women. Old School has a bye this week.

AAU tourneys set

Dates have been established for the State of Maine AAU Basketball Tournaments.

The girls’ tourney is set for April 8-9 and 15-16. The boys’ event is slated for April 29-30 and May 6-7. More information is available at www.maineaaubasketball.com, or by calling State Director Lenny Holmes at 282-4005, extension 407.

An End of Winter League is scheduled to begin Feb. 19 and continue through March 19, two games every Sunday for school and AAU teams.
