Poker draw

BYRON – The Slippery Sliders Snowmobile Club of Byron and Roxbury are planning a “Poker Draw” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Coos Canyon Schoolhouse.

There will be food available and a 50/50 drawing. Money raised will go toward maintaining the 90 miles of snowmobile trails in the Byron and Roxbury area.

Miller concert

MEXICO – First Light Counseling Service of Mexico will present Bill Miller, Grammy award winning Native American singer/songwriter, on Friday, March 3, at Mountain Valley High School Muskie Auditorium.

Redhawk Medicine drum group will open the concert, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. They can be purchased by calling First Light Counseling at 364-7006 or at Port to Port in Rumford and Everyday Music in Farmington. Ticket sales will benefit Mountain Valley High School music programs.

Team party

CANTON – The Canton Cruisers, American Cancer Society Relay For Life team, will hold a kitchenware party from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Municipal Building. A food preparation demonstration will be held at 2 p.m.

Comedy program

NEWRY – The Black Diamond Family Entertainment Series will present Lynn Trefzher, comedy ventriloquist, at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the North and South Ballroom, Grand Summit Resort Hotel, Sunday River Ski Resort. Public supper

BETHEL – There will be a public supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Bethel United Methodist Church. Menu will include baked beans, hot dishes, salads, pie, rolls and beverage. Cost for adults is $6 and children under 12, $2.50.

GOP caucus

ANDOVER – A Republican caucus will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the First Congregational Church Christian Education building. Registered voters will elect delegates and alternates to the Republican State Convention to be held May 5 and 6 in Augusta. All Republicans are welcome. For more information. call 392-1921.

Club meeting

DIXFIELD – The Poodunck Snowmobile Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the Webb River Valley Sportsmen’s Clubhouse. Canton Point Road. Members are asked to bring ideas of how the club can be made stronger and better. Volunteers are being sought for fall trail work.

Lenten lunches

RUMFORD – Salmon pie Lenten luncheons will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays, March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, the stone church located at the Rumford rotary.

Price is $6 a plate, which includes salmon pie, egg sauce, coleslaw, a vegetable, roll, pickles, dessert and coffee or tea.

The Ash Wednesday service, with Imposition of Ashes, will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at the church.
