LEWISTON – The elders of Good News Chapel are spearheading Maine’s Worldwide Missions Outreach activities in conjunction with the Auburn Advent Church.

Working with both local hospitals, Good News Chapel is responsible to send medical equipment, supplies and support services to doctors, nurses, medical missions teams and technologists working in hospitals, clinics and orphanages in under-served locations worldwide.

Roger Caron of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and Steve Gauthier of Central Maine Medical Center have made another container of relief aid possible. Caron has been working with the outreach since 1990 and has provided medical relief aid to 41 countries.

Pat Havener, missionary nurse, will be leaving for Honduras and will oversee the use and distribution of the equipment and supplies that are destined to the Christo Salva Mission in Honduras sponsored by the Advent Christian World Missions.

Wayne Tripp, who was also involved in organizing the container, is chairman of the Missions Committee of the Oxford Advent Christian Church. Stanley and Martha Bumpus of Oxford helped load the truck and the minivans.

In celebration of the Good News Chapel missionary outreaches, a potluck dinner was held on Feb. 26. A worship service was held prior to the fellowship meal. For more information, e-mail the church at www.goodnewschapel.org or phone 784-6390.
