AUBURN – A Teen Online Book Discussion will be held from March 1 to 31, sponsored by the Auburn Public Library. The program gives teens an opportunity to talk about books with one another.

The spring title is Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island.” Multiple copies are available at the library or can be requested online at www.auburnpubliclibrary.org. Call Sally at 782-3191, ext. 4, for URL. The full-text book is also available on the Teen Online site.

Hot Topic Databases will be discussed from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9. Registration is necessary. Call Sally at 782-3191, ext. 4.

Heritage Quest Online will be the topic from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16. After a tour of the library’s genealogy resources, participants will be given a demonstration of Heritage Quest, a database of more than 20,000 full-text books. Registration is necessary. Call Sally at the above number.

Widows meeting

LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Merry Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, March 6, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street.

The gathering will begin for fellowship at 11:30 a.m. followed at noon with a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.

DAR program

POLAND – Angie Banks, Creative Memories consultant, will be speaker at a meeting of Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the home of Mary Jane Densmore, 9 Berry Court.

Banks will present a program on preserving old photographs and documents. Bring a bag lunch; coffee and dessert will be provided. Call Densmore at 998-7025 for directions. All prospective members are welcome.

Nomination set

AUBURN – The Capt. Frank W. Hulett VFW Post 1603 will have first nomination of officers for the year at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at its post meeting.

All members are asked to attend. The final nomination and election will take place at the April 12 meeting. Anyone wishing to run for an office who cannot make the meeting must send a letter to Post Adjutant Arthur J. Roy stating they will accept the position if nominated.

There will also be a memorial service for Kenwood Freeley and Wilfred Turcotte who died recently. All members are asked to attend if possible. Any veteran who has served overseas and received a campaign medal may be eligible and, if they wish to become a member, may contact Arthur J. Roy at 784-6883 or ajrvfw@verizon.net.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Feb. 27 were: first, Nancy Farmer and Luke Merry; second, Claire Tewhey and Charles Bartlett; third, Martine Begert and Mary Leahey; fourth, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second in B, Allie and Tom Boyer.

Luke Merry received the most master points for February. Ellie Ward, Stephanie Hlister-Croteau and Tom Boyer have joined the club.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays, a mini-lesson is given, and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for more information.

Bridge play

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club met Feb. 26 at the Masonic Hall, intersection of Routes 100 and 231, when a Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; second, Doressa Page and Les Buzzell; third, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin.

Finishing first in Flight B were Janice Wolfe and Nancy Farmer; second, Linda Leotsakos and Audrey Burns. They also finished first in Flight C.

Another game will be played on Sunday, March 5. A partner is guaranteed. For information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153. On Sunday, March 11, there will no game as there will be a sectional tournament in Portland.
