Church sells fruit

OXFORD – The Oxford Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Fore Street is taking orders for fruit. Call 345-3122, 743-2847 or 743-6403 by Friday, March 3, to order Florida grapefruit, temples and tangerines or California navels. Orders will be delivered on March 20. They are requesting no Friday evening or Saturday calls.

Sunday service

NORWAY – The Sunday service for March 5 at the First Universalist Church, Norway, Unitarian Universalist, 479 Main St., will be at 11 a.m. It will be led by Cynthia Reedy, church member and science teacher at Hebron Academy. Her sermon topic will be “A Wonderful Life.”

Child care will be provided as well as a religious education program for children. Choir practice will be at 9:30 a..m., with Heather Pierson, music director. For more information, contact office manager Sallie Nealand at 743-2828 or e-mail norwayuu@gwi.net.

Sermon topic

PARIS – Marilyn Hammond will be the worship leader at the 10 a.m. service Sunday, March 5, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St. Hammond’s sermon topic is “The Heritage of Our Foremothers.” The music will be by the choir and Forest Perkins, church organist. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school. Child care will be provided. Brunch will follow in Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome.

Birthing class

BRIDGTON – Bridgton Hospital and the Special Delivery Family Birthing Center will offer a prepared childbirth class from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, March 14 and 16.

Course fee is $30 a person or $60 a couple, which is usually covered by healthcare insurance.

Class focuses on the process of labor, delivery, Cesarean birth, pain relief in labor and relaxation. The class will be taught by a nursing staff member of the Special Delivery Family Birthing Unit.

The next scheduled class will be a condensed version offered on Saturday, April 15. To register for the class or for more information, call the birthing unit at 647-6128.

Lorrain gets post

WATERFORD – Waterford Grange 479 has announced that Lecturer Kathy Lorrain of Waterford has been appointed to the State Lecturer’s Committee for District 6, which covers Androscoggin and Oxford counties.

She will visit each Subordinate and Pomona Grange where she will offer assistance to lecturers on upcoming programs, contacts for programs and resources offered on the local, state and national grange levels.

Lorrain’s appointment to the committee is for one year.
