FARMINGTON – A firefighting instructor resigned from at the Foster Regional Applied Technology Center on Wednesday, SAD 9 Superintendent Mike Cormier said Wednesday.
John “Jack” T. Berry, 51, of Fayette was arrested Monday and charged with gross sexual assault against a Franklin County girl under age 18.
Berry, a respected firefighter in several communities, is alleged to have had nonconsensual sexual relations with the girl at his camp in Township E during the first week of December.
The girl revealed the alleged incident to friends last week and state police investigated the matter.
Berry who had taught during the fall season for the firefighter program was put on administrative leave after he told school officials about his arrest.
