LEWISTON – Dori Lynne (Cote) LaPlant, 43, of Jay, died Friday, March 3, at Central Maine Medical Center after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

She was born April 17, 1962, in Rumford, the daughter of James and Phyllis (Jarvis) Cote. She received her education in local schools and on May 27, 2000, married Rodney LaPlant.

She was employed by the University of Maine and was an administrative assistant in the Rumford/Mexico Center for 14 years. She later was employed at the USM Lewiston/Auburn College.

A published author, she was proud of the book that she wrote titled, “The Truth Be Told.”

She was very active in Al-Anon and was an outdoor person who enjoyed gardening and motorcycling. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, children and helping others.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney of Jay; her mother, Phyllis Cote of St. Cloud, Fla.; her father and stepmother, James and Jacqueline Cote of Rumford; two sons, Matthew Gallant and his wife, Trish, of Bangor and Adam Gallant of Mexico; a daughter, Becky Gallant of Jay; a grandson, Joseph Gallant; three brothers, Jamie Cote and his wife, Becky, of Peru, David Cote and his wife, Tracy, of Hudson and Michael Cote of Ocoee, Fla.; one sister, Janice Cote of Ocoee, Fla.; four stepbrothers, Scott Walton and his wife, Melissa, of Dixfield, Kris Walton and his wife, Leslie, of Rangeley, Bruce Walton of St. Cloud, Fla., and Jason Walton of Rumford; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Emmaleigh Gallant.

Dori wanted to express her thanks to her husband’s family, many close friends and her medical caregivers for their continous support and many acts of kindness.
