OES to meet

AUBURN – The annual meeting of Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. A potluck supper will be held preceding the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend.

Alumni meeting

LEWISTON – The CMGH-CMMC School of Nursing Alumni Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the school, 70 Middle St.

Grange program

AUBURN – Members of Danville Junction Grange 65 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the hall. The program will be presented by Kenny Grover, who will talk about rock hunting.

Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.

Aging series

LEWISTON – The d’Youville Pavilion Successful Aging will explore “Senior Years – A Life Worth Living” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, in the resident dining room at d’Youville.

Many people fear the golden years will bring about social isolation and loss of meaningful pursuits. They worry that their lives will be filled with boredom, loneliness and helplessness.

There are keys to avoiding these problems and living a meaningful life, regardless of personal situations. Anna Camire and Lori Fortier of d’Youville Pavilion will be the featured speakers at the free program open to the public.

Council to install

AUBURN – Twin City Council 160, United Commercial Travelers of America and Canada, will meet at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Odd Fellows Hall on Elm Street for installation of officers. Past Grand Counselor Robert Blanchard will be the installing officer. Following the meeting, members and guests will dine at Marco’s Restaurant in Lewiston.

Family skating

TOPSHAM – The Lisbon Community School PTO is hosting Family Roller Skating from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Howard Sports on Route 201.

Parents are asked not to send in money with their child. Admission will be collected at the door – $4 a person (includes skates) or pay an additional $2 for roller blades.

Students, staff, friends and family are welcome to attend. Parents must accompany their children during the entire event.

Women’s seminar

LEWISTON – A women’s seminar will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the New Life Christian Fellowship, 134 College St. The registration fee is $10. For more information, call 782-3939.

Society speaker

LEWISTON – Sister Madeleine Normand will be the guest speaker at the Saints Peter and Paul Society meeting following the 8 a.m. breakfast in the Dominican Conference Room on Sunday, March 12.

Normand, a member of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, is a certified chaplain of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and, for the past 12 years, has served as chaplain at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

She has degrees from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H., and Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. Her topic will be “One Day in the Life of a Chaplain.”

Chapter Martel

LEWISTON – Chapter Martel, Association Canado-Americaine, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Frye School Retirement Home Hall, 140 Ash St., rear entrance. An optional meal will be offered to members at 11:45 a.m. at the Lewiston Mandarin Restaurant, 750 Sabattus St.

Bridge play

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club met March 5 at the Masonic Building. Finishing first in Flight A were Rosemarie Goodwin and Martine Begert; second, Sally Johnston and Pat Schlegel; third, Linda Leosakos and Audrey Burns.

There will be no game March 12 due to the sectional tournament being held in Portland. The next game will be Mach 19. A partner is guaranteed. For information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153.
