LEWISTON – Gemma A. Blaisdell, 79, a resident of Federal Road in Livermore, died Sunday, March 5, at d’Youville Pavilion, after a lengthy illness.

She was born int St. George, Quebec, on Aug. 27, 1926, the daughter of Louis and Aime (Dutil) Fortin, and attended schools in Canada. On Nov. 19, 1955, she married George Blaisdell Jr. in St. George, Quebec.

She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. She spent summers at her camp on the lake in northern Maine with her friends and family or sometimes alone, enjoying the wildlife, nature and solitude. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to cook for her family.

She was a member of the New England Forest Foundation and the National Wildlife Federation.

She is survived by her husband, George, of Livermore; a son and his wife, Michael and Donna Blaisdell of Livermore; three daughters, Louise Blaisdell of Atlanta, Ga., Kay Blaisdell of Hallowell and Anne Christine Blaisdell of Albion; a brother, Gaston Fortin of St. George, Quebec; a sister and her husband, Marcel and Fernande Rodrick also of St. George, Quebec; grandchildren, Jasmine Castonguay of Livermore, Zach Blaisdell of Livermore Falls and Andrew Camarata Jr. of Portland; and great-grandchildren, Jaden, Ethan, Trinity and Emma.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Germaine, Gerard and Gregoire; and a sister, Yvette.
