Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, March 9, to hear a presentation by Jason Fuller, athletic director at Lewiston High School. He will discuss sports programs available to students at the high school. The club meets weekly at the Ramada Inn on Pleasant Street.

DAR program

LISBON FALLS – Regent Sheila Desgrosseilliers announces that the Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at the home of Florence Bohunicky, Lisbon Falls, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday March 11. The program will be “Remembering the Past,” followed by a silent auction.

Legion meeting

AUBURN – American Legion Post 31 will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, March 13, at the post home, 426 Washington St. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The agenda will include Boys State, baseball, nominating committee and arrangements for the next meeting.

Lodge supper

AUBURN – Ancient Brothers Lodge 178, AF and AM, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. The meeting will be preceded by a supper at 6:30 All Masons are welcome.

OES to elect

WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, OES, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, for a potluck supper before the 7:30 p.m. annual meeting at the Grange/Masonic Building, 322 Centre Road. Election of officers will be held. Members are invited to bring food to share.

Preserve history

TURNER – The Turner Public Library will present an evening with Kelli Murdock Fortin of Murdock Country Creations from 6:30 to 7:30 Thursday, March 16. Fortin will talk and demonstrate about how to “Preserve Your Family History.” The scrapbooking program will be in the Community Room of the Leavitt Institute Building.

Baby shower

AUBURN – Advocates for Children will host a Community Baby Shower from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the YMCA Teen Center, 62 Turner St. Pregnant and newly parenting adolescents are invited to celebrate their children and their new parenting role. Dinner-dance

LEWISTON – A “Springtime in Athens” dinner and dance will take place Saturday, April 29, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon Road.

After an absence of many years, the event is being brought back by Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and a Greek supper will be served. From 7:30 to 11:30, Kostas Taslis and his orchestra will perform.

Greek desserts and coffee will be available during intermission. Tickets are $25. For information, call 783-6795 or 784-5629.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on March 6 were: first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Betty and Doug Sise; third, Anna Vitiello and Les Buzzell; fourth, Roger Briggs and Charlie Bartlett; fifth, Martine Begert and Mary Leahey; third in B, Helen Little and Alberta Turner; first in C, Beverly Dolan and Shirley Banks; second in C, Marlene and Conrad Violette.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays, a mini-lesson is given, and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for more information.

An intermediate bridge class will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays, starting March 27, at Lewiston High School. Registration is being accepted at the Lewiston Adult Education Office, 795-4141.
