On January 20, Elm Street School hosted its annual seventh and eighth grade semi-formal. The theme was New York, New York. It looked like you were taking a tour of New York City, all in one room.
There were stoplights, street signs, Central Park, paper buildings, and the Statue of Liberty. Besides the decorations there was lights, music, and food. The lights were different colors and shapes. It also had a strobe light. The music was old and new, slow and fast.
This made it fun for everyone, no matter if you were there with a date or just some friends. The food included punch and cake. There were tables out so you could eat or just hang out. They also had the bleachers out too. The fun filled evening, Big Apple style, began at 7 p.m. and went until the last dance at 10 p.m. Most people would agree they can’t wait until the next semiformal.
Erica says, “It was fun. The best part was when my friend’s mom went to go give her friend a hug goodbye, then the music came on and she started dancing.” The night was a big hit.
