BIDDEFORD – Janice Irene Hood, 68, of the River Road, Dayton, died on March 7, at the Southern Maine Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Biddeford on Aug. 27, 1937, a daughter of Edgar and Juliette (Gallagher) LaPointe. She was raised by her mother, Juliette Rocray and her stepfather, Hector Rocray.
She was a 1956 graduate of Thornton Academy. On Oct. 20, she would have been married 50 years to her beloved husband, Leslie.
She enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods and Las Vegas; however, it was her family and her husband that brought her true joy. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie Hood; a son, John Hood of Hollis Center; six daughters, Judy Hood of Biddeford, Carol Wright of New Sharon, Debbie Dubois of Hiram, Sandra King of Hollis, Linda Hood of Brookville, Fla. and Chyrel Beaucage of Saco; a sister, Linda Cyr of Kennebunk; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; and three siblings, Paul LaPointe, Mickey Rocray and Gail Shuffleburg.
