LEWISTON – Tickets for the boys’ Class A hockey state championship, which will be played on Saturday, March 11 at 6 p.m. at the Colisee, go on sale at Lewiston High School today.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Lewiston Athletic Office in the gym lobby. Ticket prices are $4 for students and $7 for adults. The LHS Athletic Office will remain open until 5 p.m. each day to accommodate anyone who needs to purchase tickets later in the afternoon.
Tickets can also be picked up at the Colisee starting on Friday, March 10 at noon. Tickets will also be available at the door on Saturday. Tickets must be picked up in person – no reservations will be accepted by phone or e-mail.
Williamson shines at national meet
AUSTIN, Texas – Vanessa Williamson, a graduate of Edward Little High School and a swimmer at Bates College where she was an eight-time NCAA all-American, performed admirably at the 2006 Speedo National Short Course Championships.
Swimming for the Irvine, Cal. Novaquatics Swim Club, She came in sixth in the 200-meter fly in a time of 2:02.05, an event that was won by the Olympian Kaitlin Sandeno. She finished 12th place in the 100-meter fly, four seconds behind winner and Olympian Margaret Hoelzer. Swimming the fly for the Novaquatics relay teams, Williamson helped her teammates finish second in the 400-yard medley relay and third in the 200-yard medley relay. She also swam a freestyle leg in the Novaquatics third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay and a fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Six Bates athletes in nationals
LEWISTON – Six Bates College athletes will compete in four events at the Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Senior Keelin Godsey will represent the Bates women’s team in the 20-pound weight throw and shot put for the third straight year, having automatically qualified during the regular season in both events.
On the men’s side, Adam Macbeth of Ellsworth will compete in the 55-meter hurdles. Macbeth is also on Bates’ 4×40 relay team that will compete at the nationals, along with senior Joel Colony and juniors Matt Capone of Auburn and Sam Thomas.
Sophomore Noah Gauthier will throw the 35-pound weight. The meet will be held this weekend, March 10-11, at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
Maineiacs playoff tickets on sale
LEWISTON – Postseason tickets for the Lewiston Maineiacs will go on sale Thursday, March 16, at the Colisee box office beginning at 9 a.m. Fans will be able to purchase Maineiac tickets for the first two home playoff games.
Official dates and time cannot be confirmed until after the end of the regular season on March 19. Should the Maineiacs remain in fourth place, the tentative dates for the first two home games will be Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25, with both games starting at 7 p.m. Fans can purchase their tickets at the box office or by phone at 783-2009.
