Hooksett, police union, stalled over contract negotiations

HOOKSETT, N.H. (AP) – Contract talks have stalled between the town of Hooksett and the union representing its police officers and dispatchers.

Negotiators were unable to come to an agreement on pay raises during 4 1/2 months of talks, according to a statement released today by David Gagnon, chairman of the Hooksett Police Commission.

The officers’ Teamsters Local originally asked for an 18 percent pay raise over three years. The town offered a 3 percent raise plus educational incentives over the same period.

According to the statement, the town then offered a one year contract with a 1.5 percent raise plus other incentives, which the union rejected.

Negotiations are expected to resume later this year.
