JAY – A surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration was held recently for Richard (Dick) and Maryann (Mimi) Nelson of Jay. Party hosts were children of the couple, Candy Soucy, Richard (Bud) Nelson, Michael Nelson and Judy Farrington.
The event was held at LaFleur’s Restaurant in Jay. Special room decorations were done by Candy Soucy, Judy and Jenna Farrington, Diane and Julie Nelson and Amy Nelson. The head table centerpiece was done by Cindy Nelson. A very special video presentation was done by Jill Lake.
Mr. Nelson and the former Maryann Deshaies were married on June 22, 1955, at St. Rose Church in Chisholm.
Mr. Nelson was employed for more than 40 years at International Paper in Jay. Mrs. Nelson, for many years, enjoyed her employment in various department stores that included Wilson’s Dollar Store, and later as a manager at W.T. Grant.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson are the proud parents of four children, Candy Soucy, Richard (Bud) Nelson, Michael Nelson and Judy Farrington. They are also the very proud grandparents of eight grandchildren, Eric Nelson, Zachary Farrington, A.J. Nelson, Jacob Farrington, Steve Nelson, Jenna Farrington, Julie Nelson and Amy Nelson.
Many friends and family joined in the celebration from as far away as Ohio and as close as their home town of Jay.
