TREATMENTS: Diuretics or “water pills” to remove fluid take long to work, often harm the kidneys and lose effectiveness over time.
NEW APPROACH: Simply filtering the blood to remove excess water produces more fluid loss and shorter hospital stays than the standard drugs.
