LEWISTON – The Franco-American Heritage Center is offering a series of four workshops for people wanting to relearn their French language. The sessions will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, starting April 5, at 46 Cedar St. The cost for the session is $55.

Michael Courchesne, French teacher at Lewiston Middle School, will lead the introductory series for Lewiston-Auburn and surrounding area Franco-Americans who were brought up speaking French in their homes, but who have lost the use of the language. The classes are also offered to non-Francos who spoke French and want to improve their French.

Courchesne will lead participants through activities using a variety of methods. Materials will include songs, stories, excerpts from film, photos and family histories. A 21-year veteran of teaching middle school students, Courchesne will put his expertise to work with all age groups.

Anyone uncomfortable speaking French because they have forgotten most of it or anyone who needs to practice with others is welcome. For more information, call 783-1585 or to register mail a check for $55 to Franco-American Heritage Center, P.O. Box 1627, Lewiston, ME 04241-1627.
