LEWISTON – Cecile S. Beaudin, 92, of 102 Campus Ave., Lewiston, and formerly of 41 Pleasant St., Auburn, died Tuesday, March 14, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion after a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston on Sept. 25, 1913, the daughter of Romuald and Zoile (Theriault) Poulin. She moved to St. Hubert, Quebec, Canada at the age of 3 with her mother, stepfather and two brothers.

She was educated in local schools. She returned to Lewiston at the age of 20 to be with her brothers, who had returned to Lewiston several years earlier. She married Oscar Landry of Lewiston. They were happily married for 10 years until his death during World War II. After the war, she met and married the late George Beaudin at St. Mary’s Church, which is now the Franco-American Cultural Center. They later moved to Auburn and had two daughters. She enjoyed gardening, and had numerous, beautiful flower beds around her home every summer. She also loved chocolate, playing cards and beano.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish for over 50 years. She had been a member of the Association Canado-Americain, the Sodality of St. Anne and the Golden Age Senior Citizens. She had a special devotion to St. Anne and had many pilgrimages to St. Anne de Beaupre in the Quebec Province.

For a short time, she worked as an assistant housekeeper at the Sacred Heart Rectory and later at the Holy Family Rectory in Lewiston. She later enjoyed working as the baker’s helper at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center before retiring. After her husband’s death, she moved to Montello Heights and took pleasure in joining other residents and friends socializing along with playing cards and beano. She later lived for a short period at The Chapman House in Auburn before entering d’Youville Pavilion.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Madeleine) Sassman of Manchester, N.H. and Mrs. Douglas (Suzanne) Olsen of Mechanic Falls; three grandchildren, Mrs. Paul (Kristine) Brackesy of Waltham, Mass., Virginia Sassman of Portland and George Sassman of Manchester, N.H.; one great-grandson, Benjamin Reilly of Swanzey, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.

Cecile’s family would like to thank all of the caregivers and staff of each of the resident facilities where she lived during the last seven years of her life.
