Norway – Norma E. Woodsum, 83, of South Paris died Thursday, March 16, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Providence, R.I., on Oct. 5, 1922, the daughter of Earl David and Ethel Stephenson Vaughn. From the age of 16, she had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and this faith sustained her throughout her life. She attended schools in Rhode Island.
She married Arthur Woodsum on Dec. 31, 1947. Her children and family were her main focus. She was a very generous, caring and sometimes opinionated person with a great sense of humor. She loved bright, vibrant colors. She loved crafts and created beautiful embroidery.
She is survived by her children, son, Robert Woodsum and his wife, Patty, of Marion, Ill., daughter, Beth Frechette and her husband, Warren, of Mechanic Falls, daughter, Valerie Meserve and her husband, Eugene, of Dayton, daughter, Carol Curit and her husband, James, of Sabattus and son, Scott Woodsum of Skowhegan; six grandchildren, David and Lisa Woodsum, Andrew and Michael Frechette and Justin and Seth Meserve; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; a step-granddaughter; a sister, Muriel Robley of Warwick, R.I.; two brothers, Russell Vaughn and his wife, Nancy, of Houston, Texas and Robert Vaughn and his wife, Betty, of York, Pa.; nieces, Dale Lewis and Sylvia Foshee; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1964; an infant daughter, Annie; a brother, David Vaughn; and a sister, Doris Smith.
