BETHEL – Nearly 40 persons are enrolled in the Bethel Historical Society’s winter/spring course, “Maine and the Civil War.” The course will meet again on March 30, April 13 and 27. There will also be a tour of Bethel’s Civil War gravesites at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29. The rain date will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30.

The society has been able to replace the aging research library office computer at the Dr. Moses Mason House with a Dell Optiplex GX 520 system, including a flat screen monitor, optical mouse and laser printer.

The equipment was made possible by life member Lynn Mason-Courtney’s gift in memory of her grandfather, Gerry L. Brooks (1878-1966), longtime Bethel attorney.

“We are very pleased with this new equipment,” said Randall Bennett, curator of collections, who oversees the research library. “It will make my job a lot easier with its greater speed and expanded capabilities,” he said.
