Lenten services

AUBURN – The Court Street Baptist Church has invited the public to attend the Tuesday noon Lenten services on March 28, April 4 and April 11.

Each service will consist of scripture, devotions and special music. Guest organist will be Charles Marshall. Dr. Ed Dwyer will lead the services. Guest pastors will be the Rev. Dr. Foster Williams, Rev. Allison Vanderlinden and Rev. Dr. Charles Bray.

Every service will be followed by a home-style meal served in the vestry. A donation is asked to cover the food cost. For more information, call Andrea at 784-6661.

VFW meeting

LEWISTON – Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at noon Sunday, March 26, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St. All officers and members are encouraged to attend.

The agenda will include nomination of officers, fundraising and Buddy Poppy sales in May. All veterans eligible for the VFW and wishing to become members should attend.

Cooking series

LEWISTON – Lots to Gardens and Lewiston Adult Education will present the Real Good Food Cooking Series on Wednesdays, April 5 and 12. Transportation and scholarships are available. For more information, call Lots to Gardens at 753-6944 or Lewiston Adult Education at 795 4141.

Textbook drive

LEWISTON – The USM Lewiston-Auburn College Golden Key International Honor Society is having a textbook drive to promote Better World Books from now until March 30.

All textbooks less than five years old will be taken to a leadership conference in Boston at the end of the month. For every book they collect, $1 will go directly to charity. Any books more than 5 years old will be donated to ISOLA at LAC for the Books to Africa Project. Donation boxes are in the college North and South Lobbies.

Blood drive

WINTHROP – There will be a community blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at St. Francis Xavier Parish Hall, Lake Street. The drive is open to all donors and all are welcome. A form of identification is required.

Quilt retreat

POLAND SPRING – A quilt retreat will be held Sept. 15 and 16 at the historic Poland Spring Resort, hosted by the Poland Spring Preservation Society. For more information, call 998-4142 or 998-4589.

Tables available

LITCHFIELD – St. Leo’s Church, Route 126, is planning an indoor flea market from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22. Anyone interested in renting a table should call Lori Larrabee, 268-4205. Tables are $10 each or three for $25.
