AUBURN – The Young at Heart Fellowship will meet at noon Tuesday, March 28, to attend the Lenten Service at the Court Street Baptist Church. A luncheon will follow.

President Winston Greaton will preside at a business meeting after lunch.

The program will be given by Major Richard Lyle of the Salvation Army who will explain the work of the Salvation Army in the Lewiston area.

Lyle is a fourth-generation Salvation Army member. His parents are retired Salvation Army officers. Lyle is the oldest of five sons, all of which are Salvation Army officers. His family roots are in Maine as he was born in Millinocket and lived in Houlton and Kittery through his teen years.

He entered the Salvation Army’s school for officers training in 1971. While there he met his wife, Kathleen, and they were married in 1974. They have a daughter, two sons and three grandchildren.

They have spent their 34 years as officers in upstate New York, serving in Rome, Cohoes, Rochester, Canandaigua, Wellsville, Buffalo, Kensington, Oswego, Syracuse and Watertown. In July 2005 the Lyles were transferred to Lewiston to take command of the Salvation Army at 67 Park St.
