UNITY – The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association will sponsor a statewide educational event, “Grow Your Own Organic Garden,” at 20 locations from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 5.

The workshops are open to the public and to people of all skill and experience levels. They are designed to provide gardeners with essential skills and knowledge needed to make a transition from conventional to organic gardening.

The presenters are association farmers and gardeners from around Maine. Workshops will be held in the following area communities:

Farmington: Adult Learning Center, 108 Fairbanks Rd, 778-3460.

Lewiston: Lewiston High School, 795-4141.

Monmouth/Winthrop: Winthrop Middle School, 377-2265, instructor: Nancy Chandler.

Topsham/Brunswick: Mt. Ararat High School, 729-7323. instructor: Maureen Fauske.

For more information, call the association at 568-4142. A registration fee of $5 a person will be collected at the door to help cover the cost of hand-outs and a bibliography, which will be distributed at each site.
