WEST PARIS – Brent Bowen, a senior at Lewiston High School and chairman of the school’s teenage Republicans, was the featured speaker at the March 14 meeting of the Oxford County Republicans at the Unitarian Universalist Church in West Paris Village.

Bowen discussed his record of Republican activism at Lewiston High School and the role teenage Republicans will play in the elections this fall.

The meeting was preceded by a dinner prepared by the members of the church.

Chairman Erlon Jones introduced several candidates in the June primary, including House District 91, Mark Ekeberg and Harry Faulkner, both of Bethel; House District 92, Paula Smith of Andover; and Senate District 14, Len Greaney of Rumford. Also present was county treasurer candidate Norm Ferguson of Hanover.

It was reported that the Lincoln Day dinner was a financial success and that more towns have contributed their quota ($1 for every enrolled Republican) to the county for use in this fall’s election.

State Committeewoman Becky Kendall of Bethel reminded everyone that ads were being solicited for the state convention booklet. Those wishing to place ads should see her or call her at 824-3196 or Erlon Jones at 935-1218, Diane Jackson at 539-2325, Stan Howe at 824-2291 or Norm Ferguson at 364-7641.

Each county’s place on the convention floor is determined by the amount of funds raised and Oxford County has traditionally been in or near the front row. Rep. Bruce Hanley, R-Paris, was present and recognized. The next meeting is expected to be in Mexico on Tuesday, April 11.
