RUMFORD – Mountain Valley High School will present “Kilroy Was Here,” a musical comedy set in 1942 in a USO club outside of the Naval Shipyard in Brooklyn, N.Y., March 30 to April 1.

When an alarming number of ships coming from the shipyard are sunk, Allied intelligence suspects the club is unknowingly harboring Axis spies. Enter Private Joe Kilroy, a young soldier who draws a curious cartoon face everywhere he goes. He’s the only one who knows where the next Allied convoy will converge. Enemy agents are stopping at nothing to learn his secret.

Along the way, audiences will be introduced to the USO volunteers who keep the coffee and doughnuts coming; the entertainers; the soldiers, sailors, Marines and hostess who jitterbug their way across the floor every night; and a collection of agents and spies all working against each other.

Snafus abound, and the nonstop action includes lively music and dance numbers reminiscent of the 1940s era, including a trio singing Andrews Sisters-style harmony.

“Kilroy Was Here” is directed by Bob and Cindy Bohren. Cast members include Kayla Anastasio, Brian Arsenault, Kayla Bartlett, Stephanie Beadle, Denise Belanger, Alina Bezkorovanya, Tori Bohren, Aaron Cayer, Dylan Cayer, Cassie Clement, Alyssa Foumier, TJ Foumier, Angella Gallant, Mindi Hill, Matt Hutchins, Leah Mawhinney, Ian Miller, Chad Moeun, Kati Nile, Phoebe Pike, Jessica Profit, Marie Russell, Eric Volkernick and Carl Zurhorst.

Shows will be staged at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 30-31 and April 1, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in Muskie Auditorium. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for students.
