AUBURN – Jeannette A. Hain, 85, a long-time resident of Clover Health Care in Auburn, died Sunday, March 19, after a long illness that she endured with remarkable courage and grace.
She was born in Auburn, on Jan. 10, 1921, the daughter of Raoul and Cecile Beaudoin Roy. She met her husband Clarence (Jock) while they were serving in the military, and later married in Daytona Beach, Fla. They moved to his hometown of Dover, Mo., to help run the family business, Dover Produce. Later, she worked as a laboratory technician and was proud to have served as president of the state association.
She enjoyed traveling throughout the country, representing her state association at numerous conventions and was an avid bowler who won many trophies. She was dearly loved by her Missouri family with whom she remained close, even after her return to Maine.
After the death of her husband in 1988, she came back to Maine and lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Bill St. Hilaire. Our fondest memories are of times spent at family gatherings, telling stories, watching her enjoy the company of her nieces and nephews, and playing on the floor with the little ones.
Over the years, the staff at Clover Health Care became her second family. We are extremely grateful for the care they provided as well as for bringing joy and laughter into her life when we could not be there.
She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline St. Hilaire; four nieces, Gertrude Timberlake and her husband, Paul, Diane Legendre and her husband, Roland, Lucy Bisson and her husband, Raymond, all of Lewiston, as well as Patricia Witthar of Independence, Mo. She was a loving and attentive great-aunt to the following: James Timberlake of Cambridge, Mass., Jeffrey Timberlake of Brighton, Mass., Sherri Thomas and baby, Zachary, of Rutland, Mass., Steven Legendre, Michelle Bisson and Daniel Bisson, all of Lewiston, and Denice Morrison and Debra Kearns of Missouri.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clarence; her brother, Leo Roy; her sister-in-law, Lucienne Roy; brother-in-law, Bill St. Hilaire; and nephew, Bill Witthar.
